چکیده

This paper discusses an ongoing adaptation of a decision making synchronous/asynchronous common environment for computer supported cooperative work (SACE-CSCW) for a distributed videoconferencing multimedia/ hypermedia concurrent engineering (CE) system to run over the Web. The SACE environment is being redesigned to incorporate this application area and its actual models are being extended to support the CE design rationale which reduces the lead time and development costs, improving the quality of new or modified products. The improvements being devised with the integration of hypermedia in the new conceptual and physical models, will lead to a shared knowledge system of products design, engineering, manufacturing, rationale and all levels of business decision making.

Information Logistics for Supporting the Collaborative Design Process

For collaboration design we can distinguish between synchronous and asynchronous collaborative working. Both are important and complementary in AEC design. We focus on asynchronous collaborative working. It can be motivated that not separate tools but a complex system of concurrent engineering components linked together by an information logistic system are necessary to cope with the complexity...

SACE-CSCW: A Synchronous Asynchronous Common Environment for Computer Supported Cooperative Work to Aid Concurrent Engineering Processes

This paper presents a Computer Supported Cooperative Work tool to help different models of meetings concerning the decision making process. Besides supporting the two obvious domains of cooperation: space (same or different) and time (synchronous or asynchronous) it also allows to work with other dimensions such as group/subgroup, user roles, public or closed type of meeting, anonymous or nomin...

Turbine Blade Investment Casting Cost Estimating Model (TECHNICAL NOTES)

The objective of this research is to develop a turbine blade investment casting cost advisor model to assist a blade designer in decision-making in a concurrent engineering environment. It is a microcomputer based cost estimating system that employs a manufacturing knowledge base. The concept of the manufacturing process for blade production by the investment casting method is used to develop t...

Information Model for Multimedia Medical Record in Telemedicine

The data used by physicians in patient care is hypermedia in true sense of the word. We propose a Distributed Hypermedia Model(DHM) to logically integrate distributed, multimedia patient data, and provide friendly user interface to give authorized physicians transparent access to these data across the network. This article discusses the architecture of DHM, which can serve as a model for defini...
